Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a very popular grape and one of the world’s most widely recognised red wine varieties. It is grown globally in nearly every major wine region. Cabernet Sauvignon is often blended with other grapes including Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

In Australia you will see Cabernet Sauviginon grapes widely planted across many of our wine regions from the Margaret River, Clare Valley, Yarra Valley, Langhorne Creek, Barossa Valley and Coonawarra regions.

It is a black fruit that makes full bodied wine. The fruit produces wine with high tannins and acidity which allows it to be cellared.

On the palate from this grape variety you will get blackcurrant notes with hints of mint, cedar or pepper. As the wine ages the flavours become more pronounced. The wine will also display a Christmas cake flavour especially in hot climates where you will see black current and black olive notes. The Coonawarra region in South Australia is well know for making a jammy Cabernet Sauvignon style with hints of mint. We are known for this Australian wine world wide.

It pairs beautiful with rich beef dishes and steak. Perhaps some smoked brisket.
