How we found this wine:

It’s a funny story actually. My father was on holiday up in Queensland, with his ever vigilant eye for new wines, he sent me a picture of this wine, saying “this is a cracker!”. With nothing more said about this, we left a pin in it and moved on. We then received a reach out email from the winery approximately a year later, stating the clean skins for sale. Noticing the branding, we did a dig, and found that this wine from the year before  was one in the same. What are the chances? I then found the price and thought hey, that’s pretty sharp, so here we are!

About the winery:

Without giving too much away, based in Mt Hurtle, these wines are made lovingly and sparingly by a small family owned business. Head winemaker and owner, crafts these wines with love and affection, small batch, with care.
The quality of these wines is no joke, the flavour and complexity shines through making you smack your lips with intrigue, getting ready for the next sip.

From the winery:

“Our classic McLaren Vale Shiraz is back!

A monster of a wine! Strong flavours and tannins that have set up this wine for the long term. Aerate before serving, drink with some nice rich red meat and keep some in the winerack for a while!”

“This is instantly appealing on the nose with dark fruit richness, smoked game, toasted spice and hazelnut aromas, leading to a wonderfully weighted palate offering succulent fruit flavours with plump mouthfeel and silky texture. Splendidly composed and expressed with a long delicious finish. At its best: now to 2032”

Tasting Notes;

“The aroma leads with a sweet oak lactone with a hint of vanilla, perfectly supplementing the black cherry and mulberry notes. Time in the glass reveals licorice and fruit infused dark chocolate. There’s a real intensity on the palate. Distinctive dark cherry flavours with a chocolate element are evident initially, then spice, dried herbs and aged savoury meats are revealed. Grippy oak tannins provide a very ample structure which finishes fine and strong.”
