The wine has aromas of blueberries and blackcurrant fruit with dark earthy spice, and background chocolate with a little dried mint.
The palate shows flavours of fresh berry fruit, sweet fragrant toasted spice and hints of anise. It is soft and round and has a persistency of vibrant fresh fruit.
The fruit for this wine was sourced mainly from vineyards on red loamy clay with a limestone base. Which provided the fruit richness and intensity, with a small proportion from the sandier sites on the hillside, to give some freshness and elegance.
Harvested when flavour ripe, and fermented on skins for a period of 5 days. The wine is matured for a period of around 12 months and a proportion was matured with French oak, but the majority was unoaked to allow the fruit to shine.
