Piping Shrike Barossa Valley Shiraz Grenache Mataro

This wine is a deep ruby red with a vibrant crimson red hue.  Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro are blended tin balanced proportions to display aromas of ripe red and black berries, vibrant mid-palate of intense raspberry and red currants, ample structure provided by fine, satin-like tannins and brilliant acidity, leading to a soft textured finish with licorice and dried herbs.

The Cimicky property was originally settled in Lyndoch in 1842 by early German pioneers. Karl Cimicky purchased the property in 1970, expanding the vineyards and building the imposing Tuscan-style winery, which he named Karlsburg. When Karl retired in the ’80s, his son Charles Cimicky and partner Jennie took over the business. The winery was completely refitted and, despite historically keeping an ultra-low profile, they produced a range of highly acclaimed red wines. In 2018 Charles and Jennie sold the business to the Hermann Thumm Drive Property Partnership. Exports to the US, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.
