Georges Clare Valley Exile Shiraz

Sourcing high quality Shiraz fruit from across the Georges estate, the 2017 Exile Shiraz encapsulates Nick George’s mission: To create premium wine with an approachable price tag.

After high rainfall and cooler conditions, the 2017 vintage commenced a month after most predictions, allowing fruit longer on the vine and delivering incredible grapes for Armagh Valley growers, setting the tone for wines of depth and character.

A classic representation of Clare Valley quality, a deep crimson hue nods to smooth, dark berries on both nose and palate, while soft spice and fine tannin lengthen the journey.

Drinking beautifully now, will reward cellaring of 5-10 years.

Would pair well with Foodnutt’s Lamb Biryani

The Armagh Vineyard, previously known as the Springwood Vineyard, provides low-yielding, dry-grown shiraz grapes nurtured on a desirable clay over limestone soil profile across four distinct blocks planted from 1996 to 2000.

Cropped intently at just 2-2.5 tonnes per acre to attain the flavour intensity required, each of the blocks brings to the winemakers their unique character, from rich plum and dark berry notes to balanced savoury and spice elements, as well as tasteful, peppery tannins to medium bodied, gastronomic appeal.

The resulting Georges shiraz wines sourced from Armagh have for two decades been much loved by consumers and garnered solid reviews and scores from some of the most respected wine critics in the country.

Georges Auburn Vineyard, previously known as the Bass Hill Vineyard, adds a range of exciting winemaking options with its 11 varieties planted across various soil types including the famous terra rossa red-brown clay and loam over limestone.
