Originating from a necessity in 1993 due to a Shiraz and Cabernet shortage, The Fergus quickly demonstrated its potential as a versatile, medium-bodied wine, perfect for any dining occasion.
Taste Profile:
The Fergus is a symphony of flavours, featuring lifted aromas of red strawberry and cherry, courtesy of Tempranillo. It’s spiced perfectly with notes from Grenache, while Malbec brings richness to the palate with plum and violet characters. Aged in older French oak hogsheads, the wine gains integrated, toasted notes and a subtle perfume, enhancing its complexity. This luscious, mouth-filling wine boasts silky tannins and, with proper cellaring, can be enjoyed for the next 15-20 years.
Winemaking Excellence:
Crafted from robust, old-vine Grenache grapes, The Fergus undergoes a unique winemaking process. Crushed onto fermented Tempranillo skins and left for extended maceration, it’s then enriched with a select amount of Tempranillo and Malbec for added complexity. After 24 months in French oak, the wine is blended and bottled under screwcap to preserve its freshness and authenticity.
